In the world of politics, for instance, understanding the central questions of communication can help you craft compelling speeches that resonate with your audience, while in healthcare, it's vital to address questions such as, "How do we ensure clear patient-doctor communication in complex medical situations?"

As a communication major, you'll gain practical experience, such as serving as a communication consultant for local organizations or creating comprehensive plans for conferences and events.
Advanced coursework focuses on planning and executing impactful presentations and training programs. During your academic journey, you'll complete a 15-week professional internship, gaining invaluable industry experience.
Headed to Graduate School?
Some of our communication majors choose to move into graduate studies, including high acceptance rates in programs such as ministry, counseling, healthcare administration and law school. Our program provides a strong foundation for future academic success.

You'll build valuable relationships through our program, often leading to campus-based work-study opportunities with groups like Student Association, Athletics, Alumni Relations and Development, Conference and Event Services, and ORU Student Media.
