The Advantage Program Plagiarism Policy

The Advantage Program does not tolerate cheating and/or plagiarism in any form and adheres to ORU’s plagiarism policy. See ORU’s plagiarism policy.

What is Plagiarism?
  • Using AI without faculty permission; follow the professor’s AI policy.
  • Submitting another's work as one's own or colluding with someone else and submitting that work as though it were his or hers;
  • Failing to meet group assignment or project requirements while claiming to have done so;
  • Failing to cite sources used in a paper;
  • Creating results for experiments, observations, interviews, or projects that were not done;
  • Submitting a paper or part of a work from another class for a current class assignment;
  • Receiving or giving unauthorized help on assignments.
Why Avoid Plagiarism?
  • Using text generated by an artificial intelligence program as your own (e.g., entering a prompt into an AI tool such as ChatGPT and copy/pasting the exact output into your paper) is also considered plagiarism.
  • Solely AI-generated papers will not be accepted. Faculty will require students to follow their AI policy.
  • Faculty can deal with instances of cheating/plagiarism within the course in accordance with ORU’s plagiarism policy.
  • Penalties for plagiarism may include failing the assignment, failing the course, academic probation, suspension, or expulsion from the program. Disciplinary action is determined by the faculty in conjunction with the Advantage Program Coordinator.
