Professor Travels to New Zealand for Exclusive Conference

Oral Roberts University faculty member Andrew Lang, Chair of Computing and Mathematics, is currently in New Zealand to participate in the 2016 Kiwi Foo Camp. Lang is one of only 150 people around the world who were invited to participate in the invitation-only event, which is being held in Auckland, New Zealand.

“It is an honor to be invited to attend Kiwi Foo Camp,” said Lang. “The unconventional format will allow those attending to collaborate with the goal of solving global problems in new ways. I am excited to join forces with some of the most brilliant minds of our time.”

Kiwi Foo Camp was started by Tim O’Reilly and Sara Winge in 2003. Guests must be impactful figures in fields such as neuroscience, Internet applications, psychology, open source programming, art, business, physics, politics, and all manner of interesting science and technology.

The conference has gained a reputation as an exclusive, unconventional platform for creative minds to share their ideas. In fact, the Kiwi Foo Camp is often referred to as an un-conference, as it has no pre-planned agenda until the attendees determine a schedule of presentations, lectures, demonstrations and forums on day one. This structure encourages participants to think outside of the box and to be ready to present on short notice.
