Program Overview

Oral Roberts University’s Music Department seeks to engage and thoroughly educate students in the past, present, and future of music. All of this is done in a Christian environment. As a music student at ORU, you will grow musically, spiritually and educationally. If you are interested in Music Education, we know you probably already have a deep love for music and we want to hone your skills and prepare you to share your passion for music in a classroom setting. At ORU, the Music Department is committed to providing you with extensive opportunities to grow as a musician and change lives as a teacher.

As a Music Education major you get to choose a concentration in either vocal (MUEV) or instrumental (MUEI) music. Or, you can earn a licensure in both. In addition to advancing in your own personal instrument or voice, you will also develop skills to effectively manage a classroom for practical application, enhance the physiological and cognitive development of the K-12 learner and develop teaching, diagnostic, and rehearsal techniques.
