Plan ahead to take the placement test! You should start the semester before you plan to enroll in a math class.
NOTE: Many students do not achieve a high enough score on the first test. The purpose of the adaptive learning modules is to prepare you for a successful second attempt.
Placement test access is available to all students who have an ORU ID number (Z-number). A link to the test is available under the “University Links” menu on D2L or you can access it directly at aleksppl.oru.edu
There is NO FEE for ALEKS access for ORU students.
Instructions:
1) Go to aleksppl.oru.edu
2) Enter your student ORU email address and password combination.
3) Enroll in the ALEKS-PPL product.
4) After you complete the test the first time, the system will invite you to enroll in adaptive learning modules to help you prepare for the score you need if you didn't score high enough.
5) Depending on your target score, spend time studying with the adaptive learning modules. Students who work in the learning modules for a few hours before their next test usually perform better. Try to complete the entire learning pie.
The learning modules are found at aleksppl.oru.edu, the same link you used for the exam. Under the main menu, choose "Learn" or "Continue my path." You will register for one of these learning modules: "Prep of College Algebra," "Prep for Precalculus," or "Prep for Calculus."
6) Come at appointed times with your fully charged laptop computer, a pencil, and your ID to take an ALEKS-PPL placement assessment.
ALEKS allows you to take the placement test up to five times, if your score isn't quite high enough. However, to make each attempt worthwhile, you should spend time working through your ALEKS learning modules in between placement tests so that you can improve your skills.
We offer the ALEKSPPL math placement test several times every semester. Directions are on the side menu to this page.
Students can sign up to take the test at Accudemia.oru.edu > New appointment > Academic Tutoring Center > ALEKSPPL Math Placement Test > ENROLLED
