Just as the honors program exists to provide enhanced educations to students with exceptional abilities and needs, the ORU Honors Program maintains a distinction among its members to provide special opportunities to its strongest applicants.
Scholars
Scholars are selected and invited to the program upon admission if they have a 4.0 high school GPA. While in the Program, students will need to keep a 3.5 GPA, participate in 2 or more Honors Program social events per year, and submit a renewal form each winter. To graduate from the Honors Program as a Scholar, students will need to successfully take 2 of the HONR seminars. Fellows and Scholars are titles given to members of the Honors Program to reflect their level of either full or extra participation in program opportunities.
Fellows
Every Scholar has the opportunity to advance to a Fellow status if they complete 4 or more of the HONR seminars. This gives students the option to achieve another level of distinction at graduation. Fellows engage in a more academically rigorous route through the seminar courses. Though all honors courses are built for more dynamic, interactive work rather than simply more work over regular courses, seminar courses are more challenging, interdisciplinary courses than the general education counterparts they replace.
