Dr. Quant is an alumnus of Oral Roberts University where he earned his Bachelor’s
degree in Music Education. He also holds a Master of Music Education degree from the
Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he studied voice with the late
Seth McCoy. Dr. Quant earned his Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Arizona
in Tucson, AZ.
Dr. Quant has a varied and distinguished career in education. As an elementary music
specialist, middle school band and choir director, he has taught in New York and Wisconsin
public schools. Dr. Quant has been a faculty member at Quincy University where he
supervised student teachers and directed the Quincy University Jazz Choir. He directed
the Quincy Area Children’s Chorus Kinderchor and established a private voice studio
for area students. As a former faculty member at Northwest Missouri State University
in Maryville, Missouri, he taught Music Appreciation, Voice and Elementary Music Courses
for graduates and undergraduates. Currently, he is the coordinator of the Music Education
program and teaches applied voice lessons at ORU.
Dr. Quant is also an active recitalist and has presented works by Poulenc, Duparc,
Faure, Shubert, Schumann, Strauss, Brahms, and Fine in recitals throughout the Midwest.
In addition, he performed selections of Beethoven’s Folksong Settings commissioned
by George Thompson for the OK Mozart Festival in Bartlesville, OK. He has performed
the role of Melchoir in Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors” and Judas in Stephen
Schwartz’s “Godspell.” He has presented works by Poulenc, Duparc, Faure, Schubert,
Schumann, Strauss, Brahms, and Fine in recitals throughout the Midwest. He was a guest
artist with the Claremore Community Chorus and members of the Tulsa Symphony performance
of the Messiah and sang the role of Raphael in Haydn’s Creation with the Quincy Symphony
Orchestra in Illinois. He also performed Haydn’s Theresa Mass with the Plymouth Chorale
in Milwaukee, WI. His stage works feature Simone in Gianni Schicchi and Simon Stride
in Jekyll and Hyde, both produced with the Muddy River Opera in Quincy, Illinois.
Dr. Quant was also member and soloist for the Milwaukee Symphony Chorus.
