Andrew Lang grew up in Lydd, UK, in a quiet little coastal town of about 10,000 people. He attended college at the University of Kent - Canterbury, where he met Kelly, a University of Tulsa student who was taking a year to study abroad. The rest is history. The couple married and moved back to Tulsa where all four of their children have been born and where Kelly's parents still live.

Andrew has taught at ORU since 1998 and has often been honored for both teaching and academic excellence, including twice being recognized as Scholar of the Year, Outstanding Honors Program Faculty Member of the Year, and Computing & Mathematics Department Faculty Member of the Year. He mainly teaches mathematics but also regularly teaches physics and computer science. He also co-teaches Science and the Imagination – an interdisciplinary honors class on Science and Science Fiction.

A frequent publisher in scientific journals, Dr. Lang is an advocate for Open Science and other Open Knowledge Initiatives. For his work in this area he has been recognized by The White House, Google, Cambridge University, and The DaVinci Institute – of which he is a fellow. He also has a very active undergraduate research program that has resulted in several students being co-authors on peer reviewed journal articles.
